The "Water Road", the water path, a very important hiking trail along the pipeline that from the location "Tria Karagatsi" leads to Kavala and its aqueduct from which the fortress and the surrounding city were watered.
It is divided into two parts, the first half is about 5 km long and reaches the springs from which the city was watered, the "mother of water" located in Tria Karagatsia.
From there, following the second half ofthe trail, we reach the settlement of Old Kavala.

THE WATER
ROAD

In old Kavala "the water road trail" meets the second important path of the area, this of the "Palia Kavala trail". Thefirst part of the route starts from the district of St. Konstantinos of Kavala, from the point where 13th of September Street ends.It follows the stone pipe from which the water flowed, with free flow, from the source to the fortress. The covered ditch reaches the city after passing through 5 stone bridges that bridged the streams it meets and ends at the aqueduct, the "arches" and from there inside the fortress.

The second part of the trail from the source to Old Kavala is a little more difficult and initially moves between old fields and estates while it intersects with many paths and "roads" that have been opened by the animals of the herds that graze the mountains. In a northwestern direction, we follow the signs and woods that delimit the trail, crossing open areas with sparse vegetation, to reach a dirt road. Here we turn right and follow this road for about 500 meters until we find again the trail on the left next to the kiosk and with the trail’s information sign.
