Stavros Hill
Two roads lead to "Stavros": The first road starts from the intersection to the City Hospital, in the area of the Holy Monastery of St. Silas. As soon as we pass the traffic light and before the intercity bus stop we turn right towards the "Konstantinio Nursing Home". We follow the road to the top of the mountain. The first 900 meters of the road, which leads to the facilities of the Kavala Nature Club,is asphalt. Then turn right on the dirt road, as indicated by the rough sign. The second street starts a little above the old "Sanatorium", from the point where there is a metal green arch which was placed there after the great forest fire of 1985. This path has no sign but is open and passes through an area with the typical vegetation of the Kavala area and ends at the forest road that leads from the old hospital to Stavros. The view from the spot will compensate the visitor, as it is something they will rarely enjoy unless they proceed to long ascents on mountains. Another interesting path is the one that from "Koule", the last tower of the long wall of Kavala, it leads to the southeast in the area of Platanakia,and after it intersects with the cement road that leads to the adjacent farmhouses, moves parallel to the long wall and enters again the pine forest above the 1st highschool.
